Salut Chase , comment vas tu ?
On a pu rouler beaucoup !

ENGLISH VERSION

HI Chase how are you? How was you’re quarantine? Did you had time for ride or you past the entire time with all the Dehart family?
I’m doing good thank you, quarantine was pretty much the usual for me, me and my family keep to ourselves for the most part anyhow, we went riding a lot, and myself and a couple friends were meeting up often to ride and film also, it was pretty much how it always is for us.
Since 2017 you are not stopping filming for big projects with cult and primo and last month a heavy part in “Knock em Down”! How do you keep you’re inspiration and idea for the videos? Do you write on phone you’re spot and the ideas or you see the spot and all come naturally?
Thank you, yea I’ve been really busy these last 3 years, it’s been how I want things to be though, I love filming projects, I love traveling with cult, I definitely have been lucky to be apart of a bunch of fun projects. I’m just inspired by loving to ride, I love to ride and find spots, lurk around new cities and places to see what’s there. I do write down spots and take pictures of them to remember, and then usually just go to them or ride them and see what happens, Usually the spot gets me excited to hit it and then I just keep it going and see what else I can come across.
You came back to Primo since two years now, how was you’re return? The team as change on several aspect, what do you think about the new generation?
Yea it’s been about a year and a half now, it’s been great, I’ve known Rich Hirsch for a very long time now, so that feels familiar to me and was an easy transition to get back into, and the new generation is awesome on primo, guys like Stephan and Hobie, Conner, all of the guys, they kill it and love to be out riding, so it’s nice linking up with them and working on a project, they’re very easy going and just down to be out riding looking for Shit to ride, it works out good for me for sure.
So… you teased the bmx world since some months and today you reveal officially BACKCHECK you’re new project can you tell us about it?
Thank you, yea, backcheck is just something I’ve always wanted to do, something to keep my friends motivated and my home life motivated, like most people, I am very opinionated and see bike riding the way I see it, and see imagery and inspiration and things that I would like to do with a brand, that I don’t always get to translate into my sponsors because they obviously have their own brand to direct, so it’s just another way to express myself and what I’m into. Not that I have anything wrong with what my sponsors are doing, but when I’m at home and not on trips, I kind of just needed something more to keep me motivated and to fulfill what I want to do. I’m very motivated by my home area, I love the east coast and I love my surroundings, and I don’t think I was getting to show that as much as I wanted to, so backcheck will help with that.
What is the origin of that name?
I got it from playing hockey, it’s an offensive defensive play, basically to skate back and protect your own goal, it also means to check thoroughly, which is all I do, is check every city and small town for everything I can find.
Are you alone in this project? Do you have some help of the Cult or Primo staff?
Financially yes, it’s just me and my girlfriend, and it is currently very DIY, we are doing our best not to get in over our heads, so we’ve just been easing into it, but we figure once we get a feel for it, and see what we actually have time and energy to do, that it will all keep coming together and grow in whatever way it’s meant to grow. But cult was a huge help and bought a lot of our shirts to sell on cultcrew.com , so that was awesome and unexpected, and then we have an artist drawing stuff up for us currently for the next shirts, so that’s going to be a huge help, and my good friends noisy neighbors printing, have been a huge help printing the shirts for us and getting them to us so quickly, my friend Tom Nguyen has been filming, and that’s been a huge help also.
The video have a really old school style, speed, style and a deep rock music at the beginning, it was something you discus with Tom Nguyen?
Thanks haha, the footage just came natural, I’ve never filmed too much with Tom, and we met up one day to shoot photos, and he filmed a clip for me, and I liked how it was looking, so we just kept it going from there, and turns out he did a great job filming and capturing my riding, which isn’t always easy to do. So thank you Tom. As far as music, i chose the first song because I actually have only ever listened to hardcore/metal/thrash, whatever you want to label it, but I’ve never really had a chance to ride to music I actually listen to, so the first song was like a glimpse of what I’m actually into musically, (even though I went easy and picked a catchy song haha), and then the beat coming in on the second half is just what goes with what I’m doing, i feel like both songs are a pretty good representation of what I’m into, it ended up working out good and seemed to fit good luckily.
Who is the next rider? Haha give us a hint!
Andrew Quinlan is finishing up a part now, and It’s looking awesome so far.
Do you have already some plans for the brand? like team, trips etc?
Yea somewhat, the plan is really just to see who gravitate’s towards it and who naturally becomes a part of it, but I do have a few guys in mind, and the plan is also to take small weekend crew trips to keep some videos coming and keep us motivated and busy, we already have always done that, but now we’ll have somewhere to put the footage besides Instagram.
What can we wish you for the future?
You don’t have to do that haha but thank you! I just want to keep doing what I do, I love riding my bike and everything it is for me.
Thanks for the questions!
